Ghost of a Person Passing in Front of the Flag

D.F. Brown | Volume 47, Issue 1 — Spring 2017

When I was king in Vietnam
killing gooks for god
they loved us for the body count.

We choppered everywhere
between history and a hard place
searching for some peace with honor
and no bread crumbs.

D.F. Brown was born and raised in the Missouri Ozarks. He served as a combat medic with the First of the Fourteenth Infantry in Vietnam, 1969–1970.
