Pistol Whip

The temperatures have been topping 120 for days now, and each time the heat rises to about 115 degrees, the generator turns off, cutting power to our entire compound. Our only recourse is to sit under the patio shaded with camouflage netting and wait for the generator to cool off enough to be restarted—a process that takes four or five hours, depending on how much water we want to waste by emptying one-liter bottles over the generator and watching them instantly evaporate.
